TechCelerator @ Lackawanna County assists aspiring entrepreneurs with turning their technology-based ideas into successful start-up businesses.
TechCelerator @ Lackawanna County began in the Spring of 2023 through a collaborative initiative between Lackawanna County, The Greater Scranton Chamber of Commerce’s IGNITE Program, Ben Franklin Technology Partners of NEPA, and tecBRIDGE. The program is also supported by the Carbondale Technology Transfer Center, The Venture Lab at Lackawanna College, the Penn State Scranton LaunchBox, and the University of Scranton’s Small Business Development Center.
Cohort participants that successfully meet the program completion requirements will be eligible to receive a $10,000 grant* to jump-start their venture.

Program Description
TechCelerator @ Lackawanna County is a ten-week program designed to help ideation and early-stage, for-profit, technology-based start-ups to learn, grow, and network. The program is competitive and 8 start-up concepts will be chosen to participate. The program consists of weekly in-person classroom sessions, one-on-one mentoring, and subject matter experts. Cohort members will master topics including business formation strategies, customer discovery, marketing, financial planning, and risk management. Upon completion of the program, participants will build, share, and present their progress to their family, friends, and fellow cohort and community members.
Eligibility Guidelines
To be eligible to participate in TechCelerator @ Lackawanna County, applicants must:
- Be residents or business owners located in Lackawanna County
- Have a for-profit business concept
- Have a technology-based business concept
- Have no more than $15,000 in 2023 gross revenue for their business
- Be current on all local, state, and federal taxes, and
- Meet the requirements set forth by Lackawanna County and through the guidelines of the American Rescue Plan Act
Participant Expectations
TechCelerator @Lackawanna County will hold weekly in-person evening classes. Each class session will last for three hours and include classroom work and guest lectures. Cohort members will also be required to meet with a designated mentor for one session per week in addition to class and homework requirements.
